Welcome to Scratch and Save, New Zealand’s only online scratch discount website. The following terms and conditions are intended to assist in keeping Scratch and Save a secure place for payments transactions and discount winnings.
1.1 Acceptance of terms and conditions: The terms and conditions are the terms on which Scratch and Save Limited offers you access to the services and the Website. By using the services provided by us, you acknowledge that you have read and accept to the terms and conditions. If you do not accept these terms and conditions, you must refrain from using the services.
1.2 Amendment of terms and conditions: These terms and conditions may be amended in whole or in part by Scratch and Save from time to time. Amendments will be effective immediately upon posting of the amended terms and conditions on this website. You are responsible for ensuring you are familiar with the latest terms and conditions. Your continued use of the Services represents your agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions as amended.

1.3 Terminology: In these terms and conditions, the following expressions have the meaning set out:
‘Member’ means a registered member of Scratch and Save;
‘Services’ means any one or more of the services offered by Scratch and Save Limited from time to time, including online discount scratch facility, membership account management, invoicing, etc.
‘Merchants’ means the businesses that adopt Scratch and Save as one of their checkout and payment methods.
‘We’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ are a reference to Scratch and Save Limited;
‘Consumers’, ‘you’ and ‘your’ are a reference to you.
2. Using Scratch and Save
2. 1 The services: Scratch and Save Limited two main types of services for consumers, payment services and discount - scratch services. Although Scratch and Save Limited provide checkout and bill payment facility, we do not sell products to you. Your agreement to buy products or pay bill is only with the merchant and not with Scratch and Save Limited. So you must deal with merchants directly to resolve problems relating to their products. Please use caution, common sense and practice safe trading when doing so.
2.2 Payment: Scratch and Save Limited generally offers the following credit cards that have been issued by a New Zealand trading bank: VISA, MASTERCARD, American Express and Diner Club International. Merchants will choose from the payment options offered by scratch and save Limited from time to time. All credit card transactions are charged in New Zealand dollars.
Your credit card transaction happens in real-time which means your credit card is charged at the time you confirm your payment and authorise us to debit your credit card. You then have the ability to scratch your discount immediately after you have paid by credit card online and your account will be credited back directly once this is done.
Scratch and Save also accepts Cheque payment and Bank deposit. Please allows certain days for the payment to be cleared. In this case, you cannot scratch discount before your payment is cleared.
Discount won by you will be credited back based using the same method that you used for paying your goods or services. If you are paying in credit card, you will get instant discount to be credited back to your credit card after discount scratch.
2.3 Discount-scratch services: Scratch and Save provides the facility for you to scratch your discount percentage from a grid of 900 cells. Scratch and Save does not take any part in the discount scratching as all the discount percentages are generated randomly by the system which uses Microsoft technology. Scratch and Save does not have the ability to manipulate any result within the discount percentage generation system.
2.4 Membership services: You do not need to be a registered user to use Scratch and Save services, but Scratch and Save account will be actinically created for you the first time you pay your transactions using Scratch and Save. This account is totally free to you and there is no membership fee charged. Once you have logged into your account section, you can manage your paid transactions, unpaid transactions, unscratched discounts, update profile and email settings etc. Please note your membership is not transferable to any other party.
2.5 Disclaimers: You expressly understand and agree that:
- Your merchants, not Scratch and Save Limited sells you the products or services, we cannot and do not provide any representation, guaranty or warranty of any kind in relation to those products or services. Any product guaranty or warranty that may be applicable will be provided to you by the merchants who sold you the particular product(s) or service(s).
- Your use of the services is at your sole risk, scratch and Save endeavours to ensure the information forwarded by the merchant is accurate and current, but does not accept liability for any error or omission.
- Scratch and Save does not warrant that i) the services provided will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error free, or ii) that any information (including feedback) provided on the Website is error-free or reliable
- Responsibility for the content of advertisements appearing on this Website (including hyperlinks to advertisers' own websites) rests solely with the advertisers. The placement of such advertisements on the Website does not constitute Scratch and Save's recommendation or endorsement of the advertised product or service. Each advertiser is solely responsible for any representation made in connection with its advertisement.
- Scratch and Save does not involve in any credit card transaction itself and is not responsible for any refund the merchants as this rest with the merchants.
- If for any reason what so ever or web services is interrupted and you have already paid for your transaction, an account will be automatically created for you and you can login and continue the service again.
- If payment has not been processed all the web service is interrupted, simply logon and start again when service resumes.
2.6 Scratch Code:
People who use offline payment methods (cheque or bank deposit) will be given a Scratch Code for scratching their discount once their payment is cleared. The Scratch code will be created for you if you choose to pay your products or services by other payment methods apart from Credit Card. Also the merchant can print out a manual invoice for you with Scratch Code on it.
One Scratch Code is assigned to one invoice only. This code is a random system-generated code and may have an expiry date attached which is pre-set by the merchants.
Once your payment is cleared, you can use this Scratch Code together with the password that is sent to your email address to logon to your online Account. In the “Paid Transactions” section of your Scratch and Save account area, you can press “Scratch” button to scratch your discount. Also, you can check your payment status in the “Unpaid Section” of your Scratch and Save account. All payments that have been received by us will be showing as “Pending”, which are to be cleared by bank. Once your payment is cleared, it will be displayed in the “Paid Transactions” section for you to scratch discount.
The code cannot be reused after it is expired. We reserve the right to extend the expiration date of this code when it is so required.
